Microsoft adds the ability to make purchases in Copilot
At the NRF 2026 exhibition, Microsoft introduced a new feature — Copilot Checkout. It allows users to make purchases without switching to third-party websites. Currently, the feature is launched in the USA and supports integration with PayPal, Shopify, Stripe, and Etsy.
What is known
Among the partners are Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Ashley Furniture. The order processing takes place directly in the Copilot interface, and sellers remain the transaction entities and retain customer data.
Microsoft only controls the interface for user interaction. This simplifies the process — the buyer is no longer redirected to the store's website. There is currently no information on what specific security mechanisms have been implemented.
Earlier, OpenAI also introduced similar functionality but warned about possible inaccuracies in displaying prices and product availability, advising to check the information on sellers' websites. Microsoft presents Copilot Checkout as a solution that allows completing a purchase in one window, without transitions.
