At CES 2026, Disney announced that throughout the year a new format will appear on the Disney+ service — short vertical videos. The platform, following TikTok and Instagram Reels, seeks to increase daily user engagement.

What is known

The format will initially be available in the U.S. Disney is considering several types of content: original short clips, adapted social media videos, scenes from movies and series, or a combination of these formats. The company notes that this will not be a random set of videos, but a dynamic personalized experience integrated into familiar interaction scenarios with the platform.

According to Erin Tig, Vice President of Disney Entertainment and ESPN, the new format is meant to make Disney+ a daily entry point for users. Previously, the company had already launched a vertical feed of personalized videos in the ESPN app.

The video content will be adapted to the format often watched on mobile devices, particularly short videos instead of long-lasting TV shows or movies. The new approach takes into account the habits of users of different age groups.
