Apple is making great efforts to improve video capabilities in its smartphones, but this primarily concerns software solutions, while sensors remain modest by the standards of modern flagships.

Thus, Chinese smartphones are increasingly receiving 200 MP cameras, and Oppo Find X9 Ultra (according to rumors) will receive two sensors with this resolution, while the flagship iPhone 17 Pro Max all cameras are 48 MP.

What is known

Morgan Stanley analysts believe that Apple will also start equipping its smartphones with 200 MP cameras, but this will not happen soon.

It is expected that the first such camera will receive the iPhone 21, which should be released in 2028 (probably by then the Chinese will already have 400 MP sensors). Recall, there is a reasonable assumption that after the iPhone 18 lineup, Apple will conduct a marketing ploy and, skipping the 19th series, will immediately release the iPhone 20, timed to the 20th anniversary of the brand, which will take place in 2027.

Probably, the cool camera will be received first by the Pro version of the iPhone 21.
