Total Domination by China and Tesla Optimus's Failure: 2025 World Humanoid Robot Market Results Summarized
The anthropomorphic robot industry is just beginning its development, and it's fascinating to watch its first steps. Many tech giants and small companies have loudly announced plans to release androids, but the absolute leader in this field is China, and specifically, the company AgiBot, as confirmed by the analytical agency Omdia.
What is Known
First, it should be noted that the top five leaders are entirely composed of Chinese companies.
By the end of 2025, it was AgiBot, based in Shanghai, that sold more robots than anyone else — 5,168, representing 39% of the global market. This company specializes in manufacturing androids for hotel work: they greet guests, carry luggage, clean up, and answer questions, but it is their Humanoid robot AgiBot A2 earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records — he walked 106 km.
In second place was Unitree, with 4,200 robots sold and a 32% market share. Recall, their robots became martial arts masters and stars of Chinese hip-hop.
The top five also included UBtech (1,000 units, 7%), Leju Robotics (500 units, 4%), and EngineAI (400 units, 3%).
As for the company led by someone who made the loudest promises about a “legion of robots in 2025,” it clearly lags behind all competitors: Tesla managed to sell only 150 Optimus, accounting for 1% of the market (recall, instead of 5,000 units).
According to Omdia's calculations, 1,300 robots were sold over the year, and by 2035, they forecast sales reaching up to 2.6 million units.
