AUDI E5 Sportback became the car of the year in China
The electric AUDI E5 Sportback received the title of "Car of the Year in China 2026." This is the first award of this level for AUDI — a subsidiary of Audi AG, which entered the Chinese market only last year.
What is known
The winner was determined by a commission of experts from specialized automotive media. The electric fastback, developed as part of the AUDI and SAIC joint venture, was officially unveiled in September 2025. Serial production of the model started in August 2025 at a factory in Shanghai.
The maximum power of the power plant reaches 579 kW, and the range according to the Chinese CLTC cycle is up to 770 km. The AUDI E5 Sportback is available with four powertrain options, including rear-wheel drive and quattro all-wheel drive versions. Acceleration of the most powerful version from a standstill to 100 km/h takes 3.4 seconds.
In November 2025, at the Guangzhou Auto Show, the brand also showcased the AUDI E SUV concept car. The serial AUDI E7X model based on it is expected to enter the Chinese market in 2026.
