Leak revealed the price of Steam Machine — and it may upset buyers
Valve continues to remain silent about the price of Big Announcement from Valve: The Company Introduced Three New Devices — the Stationary Console Steam Machine, Steam Controller 2, and VR Headset Steam Frame, and reputable journalists suggest that this is due to the unpredictable situation in the memory and storage market. Their prices have skyrocketed and continue to rise, making it difficult for the company to determine a fair price for the device (Logical theory: Half-Life 3 is ready for announcement and release, but Valve is not introducing the game due to … memory chips).
However, unexpectedly, information about the price of Steam Machine was found on two Czech websites
What is known
Dataminers found out that the code of pages on Czech marketplaces Smart and Alza already indicates information about the price of Steam Machine, and it certainly won't please potential buyers: the 512 GB version will cost $950 (converted from crowns), and the 2 TB model will cost $1070 excluding taxes.
Note that for this money, you can buy two PlayStation 5s, but, of course, the Sony console will not offer such freedom of use and will not provide access to the full catalog of Steam games.
There is a possibility that the listed prices are “placeholders,” but given the situation with memory, they quite possibly reflect reality.
In any case, we should wait for official information from Valve.
