Don't expect the return of Prototype: Microsoft and Activision are not interested in developing the franchise
After the merger of Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, rumors regularly appear online that either a new part or remasters of Prototype — the dark action duology of 2009 and 2012 — are in development.
These games have only gained cult status over time, and many gamers would really like to see the return of the series, but as an authoritative insider reported — there's no chance of that.
What is known
Windows Central editor Jez Corden is convinced that Microsoft and Activision are not interested in developing the Prototype franchise and states that no studio is working on either Prototype 3 or remasters of Prototype 1/2.
There are no plans to work with the Prototype series right now. Anyone who claims otherwise is unfortunately just misinformed.
