Toyota unveils new Hilux at the Brussels Motor Show
Toyota presented the ninth generation of the Hilux pickup at the Brussels Motor Show 2026. The model received a fully electric version, as well as a 48-volt mild hybrid, which, according to the company, will become the most popular Hilux option in Europe.
What is known
Both modifications retained the frame structure. The fully electric Hilux is equipped with a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and two electric motors on the front and rear axles for all-wheel drive. The range in the WLTP cycle is up to 257 km in the combined cycle and up to 380 km in urban mode.
The payload of the electric version reaches 715 kg, the maximum towing capacity is 1.6 tons. Ground clearance is 212 mm, and the wading depth is up to 700 mm, which corresponds to the hybrid version indicators.
The 48-volt hybrid Hilux combines a 2.8-liter diesel engine with a compact lithium-ion battery. This configuration is intended to improve smoothness and fuel efficiency. This version has a payload of up to 1 ton and is capable of towing trailers weighing up to 3.5 tons.
Both versions will be available only with a double cab and will receive the Toyota T-Mate active safety system suite. The company emphasizes that the new Hilux builds on over 27 million cars sold over the model's half-century history, with key priorities remaining quality, reliability, and durability.
The electric Hilux BEV will hit the market in April 2026, and the hybrid version will appear in July. Prices and full technical specifications will be revealed by Toyota closer to the start of sales.
