Stellantis has officially ended production of all plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models under the Jeep and Chrysler brands in North America. Production of the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, and Chrysler Pacifica PHEV concluded with the 2025 models.

What is known

In a statement to the media, the company noted that it regularly revises its product strategy considering demand and regulatory requirements. Stellantis explained that amid shifting consumer preferences, it will wind down plug-in hybrid programs in North America starting with the 2026 model year, focusing on other electrification formats. The priority is classic self-charging hybrids and extended-range electric vehicles (EREV).

This decision effectively puts an end to a strategy previously seen as the foundation of Jeep electrification. The Wrangler 4xe was the best-selling plug-in hybrid in the USA, and in 2024, Stellantis reported that Jeep and Chrysler models accounted for over 40% of all PHEV sales in the country.

The Chrysler Pacifica PHEV minivan was introduced back in 2016. Jeep first unveiled the PHEV technology under the 4xe brand in 2020. The serial Grand Cherokee 4xe was released in 2021.

Meanwhile, Stellantis emphasizes that electrified powertrains remain an important part of its strategy in North America. The corporation continues the development of battery electric vehicles and platforms for EREV, and Jeep will maintain fully electric models in its lineup, including the Wagoneer S and Recon.
