Firaxis Games studio announced a mobile version of the historical 4X-strategy Sid Meier’s Civilization VII for Apple gadgets, which, however, is unlikely to interest hardcore fans of the series.

What is known

The novelty will be released on February 5 and will be available in the Apple Arcade catalog on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

The edition is named Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition and will have a huge number of restrictions. Players will not have multiplayer modes, expansions, or free content updates; moreover, many Civilization VII mechanics will be simplified, and the graphics will undergo a significant downgrade. "Large" and "huge" maps will only appear on devices with 8 GB of RAM, but those who have always wanted to play Civilization on a smartphone will now be able to do so.

Developers promise convenient touch controls and an adapted interface, and there will also be an option to connect a mouse or controller.

The Mac version will take 20 GB on the SSD.
