Smartphone with a mirror? — that's something new! Realme 16 5G offers an unexpected solution
Smartphone manufacturers continue to experiment and offer users the possibility to take selfies using the main module instead of the front camera.
Recently released was the Additional display with Xiaomi for a long time: the next series of smartphones will also receive an unusual rear module, and for the iPhone 17 Pro, the iPhone 17 Pro will have an additional display: the Selfix case will make the Apple smartphone look like Xiaomi 17 Pro was announced, while Realme has come up with a more budget-friendly option that theoretically will be no less functional.
What's known
Information about the unannounced Realme 16 5G smartphone appeared online. Various sources published several leaked promotional posters showing an unexpected design solution — a “mirror” near the main camera block.
However, it's not quite a mirror, but a small round reflective surface that allows the user to precisely aim the main camera at themselves and take a higher quality photo than is possible with the front camera.
Obviously, for Realme this will be significantly cheaper and easier than integrating an additional display or, for instance, making a flip camera like, for example, At CES 2026, the iKKO MindOne concept AI smartphone was presented, the size of a bank card, with a flip camera and a physical QWERTY keyboard.
According to insider information, the Realme 16 5G will receive a Dimensity 6400 chipset, a 6.57” diagonal screen, a 7000mAh battery with 60W charging support, and a 50MP camera.
The novelty has already been presented on some Asian marketplaces, but there hasn't been an official presentation yet.
