OpenAI launched its own translation tool — ChatGPT Translate, which operates separately from the main ChatGPT chatbot. The service appeared without public announcements, but it can already be found on a separate webpage.

What is known

The tool supports over 50 languages and can translate text and voice commands. Image translation support is also claimed, but the feature is currently unavailable.

Automatic language detection is implemented. Unlike usual translators, ChatGPT Translate allows you to change the translation style: make it formal, academic, adapt it for children, or provide a smoother translation. The service page notes that the tool understands tone, idioms, and context.

The voice input feature is available in the mobile version, but currently absent in the desktop version. Despite the claimed image support, there is no possibility to upload a file for translation. ChatGPT Translate also does not support translation of websites, documents, or handwritten texts.

The tool is currently available only as a web version — there is no separate application, thus no offline access. Translation of real conversations or calls is also not supported. The launch date of the service has not been officially announced. According to the Wayback Machine archive, a page with this design existed back in November.
