In early January Taiwanese retailers reported that Asus had stopped supplying its smartphones, and company representatives stated that they do not plan to release new models in 2026. There were speculations that the company wanted to leave the smartphone market, and this is now officially confirmed.

What is known

At the annual meeting of Asus employees, Chairman of the Board Jonney Shih confirmed that the company will not expand its smartphone lineup, is abandoning the development of new models, and is shifting to more promising directions, such as hardware operating on artificial intelligence. ASUS sees more prospects for itself in AI-based robotic systems that work with minimal human intervention.

Moreover, ASUS produces excellent computers and components for them, and has never been a serious player in the smartphone market. Although its Zenfone and ROG Phone had certain value for gamers, lately they have significantly lost to Chinese brands.

We note that Asus will continue to fulfill its obligations, release updates, and conduct warranty service for previously sold smartphones.
