HBO and the streaming service HBO Max premiered a new series from the 'Game of Thrones' universe — 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms', set 90 years before the start of the main saga's plot, telling the story of Knight Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg — the future King Aegon V Targaryen.

What is known

Currently, the first of six episodes is available to viewers. Episodes will be released weekly, with the season finale airing on the morning of February 24 (European time).

The audience warmly received the new release, and the first episode has a 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Viewers noted that unlike 'Game of Thrones', 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' tells a less grandiose but more personal and emotional story, focusing on the relationship between Duncan the Tall and Egg.

HBO has no doubts about the success of 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' and has already renewed it for a second season, expected to premiere in 2027.

For those unaware

'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' is being developed by George R. R. Martin — the author of the book saga 'A Song of Ice and Fire' and Ira Parker — screenwriter of 'House of the Dragon'. Among the executive producers are Sarah Bradshaw ('Andor', 'The Mummy'), Owen Harris ('Black Mirror: San Junipero'), Ryan Condal ('House of the Dragon'), and Vince Gerardis ('Game of Thrones').
The directors are Owen Harris and Sarah Adina Smith, known for 'Lessons in Chemistry' and 'The Midnight Swim'.
