Samsung laptops are getting more expensive: Galaxy Book6 Pro will be $440 more expensive than the previous model
At CES 2026, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Book 6 series of laptops with a focus on AI and autonomy, which includes models Galaxy Book 6, Galaxy Book 6 Pro, and Galaxy Book 6 Ultra.
These are Copilot+PC workstations with broad AI features and Panther Lake processors that deliver maximum performance and energy efficiency.
Galaxy Books have never been among budget laptops, but the 2026 models might even more disappoint buyers with their price.
What is known
Detailed specifications of the Galaxy Book6 Pro and Ultra are published on the Korean Samsung website, revealing that the laptops will significantly rise in price.
Prices start at $2340, whereas the most affordable model of the previous generation cost $1900. For this price, a laptop with a powerful Intel Core Ultra X7 processor, 32 GB of RAM + 1 TB SSD is offered. These are excellent specifications, but the price is still $440 higher than the previous model.
Galaxy Book6 Ultra with a discrete RTX 5060 Laptop graphics card will cost $3140, and the most expensive model will cost $3350.
All prices are converted from Korean won and will probably vary depending on the region.
Samsung has not yet commented on such a sharp rise in prices, but it is obvious that it is associated with a significant rise in the cost of memory chips, drives, and, lately, graphics cards. However, the company's head TM Roh predicted back in early January that "... everything will become more expensive. Price increases for products are inevitable, but Samsung will try to minimize the impact on customers." It's scary to imagine how much the Galaxy Book6 laptops would cost if Samsung did not care about its customers (sarcasm).
