The Marshall brand announced the Heddon hub — a device for combining Bluetooth speakers into a multiroom audio system without built-in Wi-Fi in the speakers. The novelty costs $300 and is aimed at owners of models Acton III, Stanmore III, and Woburn III.

What is known

Unlike Sonos solutions that use Wi-Fi for sound synchronization, Heddon streams music via Auracast — a new Bluetooth standard for broadcasting audio to multiple devices at once. The source can be a streaming service like Spotify Connect or Tidal or any device with Google Cast or Apple AirPlay support.

Heddon connects to Wi-Fi and has RCA ports for analog sound sources, such as vinyl players. Control is carried out through the Marshall app. With an internet connection, the company will be able to update the functionality over time.

Marshall has already started selling. The device is added free of charge to orders of two or more speakers from the Acton III/Stanmore III/Woburn III line or offered at a 50% discount when buying one.
