What's new in Ryzen 7 9850X3D
- 8 cores / 16 threads on Zen 5 architecture;
- Maximum boost clock frequency — 5.6 GHz, which is 400 MHz higher than the 9800X3;
- Second-generation 3D V-Cache — a key factor in gaming performance growth;
- TDP 120 W, like the previous model.
AMD positions the innovation as an enhanced version of the 9800X3D, focusing on games sensitive to CPU frequency. In esports disciplines, the increase may be most noticeable.
According to preliminary data, the average FPS increase is about 3%, and in some games — up to 8% (for example, Counter-Strike 2). There are also rumors of higher overclocking potential — up to 5.75 GHz on all cores.
Ryzen 7 9850X3D is a significant upgrade to the popular 9800X3D, but for owners of the latter, the upgrade may not seem as significant.
