For Those Who Want More Cringe: Google Photos Tests Meme Creation Option from User Photos
Google is launching a new experimental feature that will make your life more fun. The Google Photos app will include a Me Meme option that uses generative AI to insert the user's face into popular meme templates or create new images.
What is known
Me Meme is integrated into the Create tab in Google Photos. The user selects one of the ready-made templates or uploads their own "funny image," after which the app suggests choosing a clear, well-lit selfie. AI automatically inserts the face into the template and creates a personalized meme. You can edit the result, compare the original photo and the final meme, save it in your library, generate a new version, and share the image on social media.
Google positions Me Meme as a simple way to create viral memes without editing skills. The tool lowers the entry barrier to generative content: just a few taps are enough to get a finished meme.
The feature is completely optional, and all images remain private by default.
At the moment, Me Meme is being rolled out in the USA and is available to a limited number of users as an experimental feature. Google plans to expand its reach as testing progresses and make it available on iOS as well.
