The wait won't be long: CONTROL Resonant might release in just a couple of months
In December, CONTROL Resonant was announced — the sequel to the famous paranormal action game CONTROL (2019) by Finnish developers Remedy Entertainment.
At that time, the authors didn't specify a release date for the game, limiting themselves to the phrase “2026”, but now information has appeared online that the sequel might release in just a couple of months.
What is known
The analytical resource Inderes shared data according to which, at the end of last year, representatives of Remedy told investors that the release of CONTROL Resonant is planned for the end of the second quarter of 2026.
We now expect the release of CONTROL Resonant by the end of the second quarter of 2026, which has significantly impacted our revenue forecasts. <…> Our base assumption about the profits from CONTROL Resonant for the first three years has remained almost unchanged. At the same time, we think that Remedy will only receive royalties from the Max Payne remake in 2027, although the game might release in 2026. According to our estimates, in 2026, CONTROL Resonant will sell about 1.8 million copies, and in 2027, the number will grow to approximately 2.2 million. Thus, if the forecasts prove accurate, Remedy’s revenue in 2026–2027 will exceed 120 million euros. <…> Conditions for high game sales are favorable because the original Control sold over 5 million copies, and in total, over 20 million people have played it across various platforms.
Since games of this scale typically do not release in the summer, it's reasonable to assume mid-late May, though it's possible CONTROL Resonant's release could coincide with the annual Summer Game Fest event, which takes place in early June.
Recall that the events of CONTROL Resonant will directly continue the story of the first part, but the main character will not be Jesse Faden, who headed the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), but her brother Dylan — a former prisoner of the organization. Remedy will shift the game's setting from the Oldest House to the streets of Manhattan, filled with otherworldly creatures.
The most interesting change in Resonant concerns the gameplay: developers will focus on melee combat, turning the third-person shooter into a dynamic action game or even a slasher (it's hard to say at this point due to the lack of video materials).
The game will be available on PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
