Apple has introduced and immediately launched for sale a new model of the AirTag tracker, which helps to find items “attached” to it.

The device retained the previous design but received significant technical improvements aimed at more reliable and faster finding of lost items.

What is known

According to Apple, the Bluetooth range has been increased by about 50%, allowing AirTag to be detected at a significantly greater distance. The key update is the new second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, providing more accurate direction to the device and stable operation of the Precision Finding function. Now the search is accompanied by improved visual and tactile prompts, as well as more accurate distance determination to the tracker. Moreover, this option is now compatible with Apple Watch Series 9 and newer smartwatches.

The built-in speaker has also become 50% louder, making it easier to find in noisy environments or when the AirTag is hidden deep in a bag or furniture. However, Apple did not add an attachment hole again, so users will still need accessories or keychains.

The device is powered by a CR2032 lithium button cell battery, just like the first generation.

The price has not changed: in the US, the new AirTag costs $29 for one piece or $99 for a set of four. Sales have already started in the Apple online store, and the device will appear in retail locations in the coming days.
