Science Without Routine: OpenAI Launches AI Platform Prism for Convenient and Fast Work with Large Data Sets
OpenAI has introduced Prism — a free AI workspace for scientific work, deeply integrated with GPT-5.2 and LaTeX. This new tool combines writing, editing, literature search, and collaboration in one cloud space, making the preparation of scientific texts significantly faster and more convenient.
What Is Known
According to OpenAI, ChatGPT receives 8.4 million weekly requests on complex scientific topics — the demand for intelligent research tools is growing rapidly. Prism is expected to meet this need by accelerating the preparation of scientific materials and reducing routine for researchers, students, and teachers.
It is intended for preparing scientific articles, lectures, reports, and any materials that require strict formatting and work with formulas.
Key Features
- A full-fledged LaTeX editor in the browser, built on the Crixet platform acquired by OpenAI;
- deep integration of GPT-5.2 Thinking for evaluating hypotheses, editing text, searching for relevant research, and generating ideas;
- automatic source management: literature search, bibliography collection, correct citations;
- diagram generation without TikZ, formula formatting, and text structuring;
- collaborative work without limitations — any number of co-authors can be connected.
OpenAI positions the tool as the "Claude Code for Science" — an analogue of an IDE for research activities.
Prism is already available for free to all users with a personal ChatGPT account. Support for corporate rates — Business, Team, Enterprise, and Education — will be available soon.
