BMW iX1 and iX2 2026 model year received increased range
BMW has updated its compact electric crossovers iX1 and iX2, increasing their range by 40 km according to the WLTP cycle. The improvements are related to technical upgrades in power electronics.
What is known
Like the updated MINI Countryman, the iX1 and iX2 models received a silicon carbide (SiC) inverter. It provides more efficient energy conversion and reduces losses, which directly affected the range without changing the battery capacity.
The updates affected both versions — the front-wheel-drive eDrive20 and the all-wheel-drive xDrive30. The front-wheel-drive BMW iX1 can now travel up to 514 km on a single charge, while the xDrive version is rated at 466 km. The coupe-style iX2 with front-wheel drive has a range of up to 512 km, and the all-wheel-drive version — up to 477 km.
The modernization of current models occurs against the backdrop of testing the next generation iX1, which will enter the new Neue Klasse family. However, the update of the current versions indicates that the transition to the new platform is not yet an immediate prospect. A similar situation is with the iX2 — its replacement is expected no earlier than in a few years.
