Redmi introduced Turbo 5 and Turbo 5 Max — budget sub-flagships with cool processors, bright OLED displays, and high autonomy

Redmi introduced the Turbo 5 series — two mid-range smartphones that focus on autonomy, performance, and premium technologies.

The main star is the Redmi Turbo 5 Max with a 9000 mAh battery and a Dimensity 9500s chipset, while the basic Turbo 5 received a more compact body and a less powerful processor.

Redmi Turbo 5 Max became the most advanced device in the lineup and the first smartphone based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9500s.

Key features of the gadget:

  • 6.83" OLED display with 1.5K resolution, peak brightness of 3500 nits, 3840 Hz PWM adjustment, Green Mountain eye protection;
  • 9000 mAh battery — the largest in Redmi's history, supports 100W charging and 27W reverse charging mode;
  • improved cooling system;
  • under-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, 30% faster than usual;
  • body protected according to IP69 standard, featuring a metal frame and fiberglass back panel;
  • camera module includes a 50 MP Light Hunter 600 main sensor with OIS;
  • LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage standard.

Redmi Turbo 5 Max is available in four memory configurations: 12/256 GB — $315, 16/256 GB — $360, 12/512 GB — $360, 16/512 GB — $400 (converted from yuan).

The standard Redmi Turbo 5 received a more balanced configuration:

  • 6.59" OLED display with 1.5K resolution, maximum brightness of 3500 nits, and 3840 Hz PWM adjustment;
  • Dimensity 8500-Ultra chipset;
  • 7650 mAh battery with 100W fast charging and 27W reverse charging support;
  • body protected according to IP69 standard, featuring a metal frame and fiberglass back panel.

Redmi Turbo 5 is available in two memory configurations: 12/256 GB — $290, 16/512 GB — $375.

Both smartphones support integration with Apple's ecosystem: owners of the Redmi Turbo 5 Max and Redmi Turbo 5 can directly transfer files and share notifications with iPhone and Mac.

New items are already available in China, and a global release is likely to occur in a couple of months.
