The second generation BMW X7 (index G67), debuting in 2027, will follow the footsteps of the flagship 7 Series sedan and offer two-tone body paint options.

What is known

BMW is now finalizing preparations to launch the new X5 (G65), which will be released this year. Those who need a third row of seats will have to wait until next year — that's when the new X7 will hit the market.

It was previously reported that the X7 will come with door closers in the standard package and, as an option, automatic doors like the 7 Series. The equipment list also includes ventilated and massage rear seats, as well as a new multimedia system for second and third-row passengers.

Another feature borrowed from the flagship sedan has now become known. According to a BMW insider from the Bimmer Post forum, two-tone paint options are planned for the X7. This information was confirmed by other sources: buyers will be able to combine different colors of the upper and side parts of the body.

Formally, BMW already showed the X7 in Space Silver with a Velvet Blue lower body (in the photo under the headline), but such a car did not come off the assembly line in this form. After assembly in the USA, the SUV was sent to Japan, where BMW's local division repainted it. There, customers were offered versions with the upper body in Oxide Grey or Black Sapphire colors. As with Rolls-Royce, a thin decorative line emphasized the border between shades.

In the case of the X7 G67, two-tone paint is planned to be offered globally. Most likely, such cars will be painted directly at the plant in South Carolina. BMW already has relevant experience: for the 7 Series G70, two-tone bodies are painted at a plant in Germany.

The previous generation 7 Series sedan (G12) also had two-tone paint, but exclusively for the Chinese market and only in the M760Li xDrive version. The most famous BMW with such a finish remains the luxurious L7 (E38) owned by Karl Lagerfeld, with a Chestnut Brown Metallic and Gold Orange Metallic body.
