Iconic JRPG Final Fantasy VII to be re-released on Steam: Square Enix enhances significant gameplay improvements
Square Enix announced an unexpected update for the Steam version of the iconic JRPG Final Fantasy VII.
We emphasize that this is about the original game (1997), not its remake or remaster.
What is known
The Japanese developer intends to provide gamers with an "enhanced gameplay experience," but still gives them a choice: the new version or the classic one.
The updated version will receive a separate page on Steam and will be displayed in the player's library as a standalone title, but all those who purchased the original, which, by the way, will be called Final Fantasy VII 2013 Edition and removed from sale, will receive it, and the new version will be called Final Fantasy VII.
Both versions will have incompatible saves, so the playthrough will have to start from the beginning to appreciate the improvements.
The developer has not yet disclosed the release date of the re-release and its main innovations, but promises "significant gameplay improvements."
The original Final Fantasy VII will be re‑released on Steam to provide an improved gameplay experience.
