Media: LG Stops Producing 8K OLED TVs
Another TV market giant is ceasing production of 8K-resolution models. Previously, Sony and TCL made the same decision, and now LG is joining them.
What is known
TechRadar reported that the Korean manufacturer is indefinitely freezing the production and development of 8K OLED TVs, which they have been working on since 2018. It is assumed that some Z3 models released in 2025 will remain on sale, but new products should not be expected.
Thus, Samsung will remain the only major producer of TVs of this format, but there is a high likelihood that it will also abandon 8K OLED models, as there is still critically little content for these panels. They are unjustifiably expensive, and research shows that the human eye can hardly perceive the difference between 8K and 4K — the viewer must be at a minimal distance from the screen for this.
