Lately, flagship photography smartphones often receive special accessories that make them look like classic cameras. iPhone has not yet had such sets, but soon this may be corrected.

What is known

PGYTech, which has released corresponding accessories for Vivo and Oppo, announced the RetroVa set on Kickstarter, which will make Apple's smartphone a real vintage camera. The company planned to raise $10,000, but within five days it received over $100,000.

Main components of the PGYTECH RetroVa set

Protective case

  • Specifically designed for iPhone 16 Pro / Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro / Pro Max;
  • serves as the base for attaching other modules.

Detachable Grip

  • Ergonomic handle with leather texture and metal elements;
  • a mechanical shutter button with half-press for focusing — like on a real camera;
  • physical dials for controlling ISO, white balance, and exposure compensation;
  • built-in battery for extended shooting;
  • a slot for microSD — a rarity for mobile accessories;
  • support for recording in ProRes, HEVC, and RAW.

Telephoto Lens 2.35× Master Telephoto Extender

  • Increases the smartphone's focal length to 235 mm on iPhone 17 Pro and to 282 mm on iPhone 16 Pro;
  • allows achieving 4x optical zoom, and in some modes, up to the equivalent of 2350 mm;
  • provides opportunities for distant objects.

The manufacturer claims a real camera working experience thanks to physical controls and a significant expansion of the optical capabilities of the iPhone, but it should be noted that the telephoto lens works only through the PGYTECH app, not through the standard iPhone camera.

Paired with the iPhone 16 Pro, the accessory provides 12x zoom, and photos are saved through the proprietary app.

Deliveries will begin in March or April 2026. The cost of the set is $184.
