Opel has opened orders for the updated Astra and Astra Sports Tourer after their premiere at the Brussels Motor Show. The main changes are the increased range of the electric version, the Opel Blitz emblem with backlight, and Intelli-Seats which are now standard equipment on all versions. Prices in Germany have remained the same.

What's known

The Astra Electric received a battery with a capacity of 58 kWh, which allowed an increase in range to 454 km — about 35 km more than before. There is also a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function for connecting external devices. The electric motor's power is 115 kW (156 hp), the price of the electric hatchback starts at 37,990 euros, and the Astra Sports Tourer Electric station wagon starts at 39,490 euros including VAT.

The powertrain lineup also includes a 107 kW (145 hp) hybrid with a starting price of 32,990 euros, a 144 kW (196 hp) plug-in hybrid costing from €38,460, as well as a 1.5-liter turbo diesel with an output of 96 kW (130 hp) and a price from 34,640 euros.

Externally, the model features a narrower front end with an illuminated Opel emblem. Optionally available is Intelli-Lux HD matrix lighting with more than 50,000 lighting elements, and in the Ultimate configuration, it is standard.

The Astra is still developed and manufactured in Rüsselsheim, at Opel's main production site.
