Josh D'Amaro to Become the New CEO of Disney
Disney announced that Josh D'Amaro will become the new CEO starting in March — he is currently the head of the Disney Experiences division. The decision was unanimously supported by the board of directors. This is the second attempt to find a successor for Bob Iger, who has led the company since 2005 (with a break).
What is known
D'Amaro has worked at Disney for 28 years, overseeing theme parks, cruises, and consumer products, including video games. His predecessor, Bob Chapek, left the position in 2022 after unsuccessful leadership, prompting Iger to return. In 2023, Disney established a committee to find a successor, and D'Amaro was among the candidates mentored by Iger himself.
During Iger's tenure, the company launched the Disney+ streaming service and acquired Hulu and 20th Century Fox assets. After his term ends, he will remain a board member and advisor until the end of 2026.
