There have long been rumors that the next Xbox console will be open to third-party stores. Steam has not yet confirmed negotiations with Microsoft, but the head of Epic Games Store openly talks about the corresponding partnership.

EGS head Steven Allison acknowledged that in many respects the service lags behind competitors and shared how he plans to address this situation.
One of the main elements of his ambitious plan is the launch of EGS on the next generation Xbox, which, we remind you, will not be quite a console but rather a PC optimized for games. According to Steven Allison, Microsoft welcomes this idea and the controversial store may appear on the new platform at its launch. By the way, the company AMD Head: The next-generation Xbox console will be ready for release in 2027.
In addition, Allison plans to launch a mobile version of EGS in more regions, expand social features, and make other significant improvements.
By the way, Allison mentioned that he would like to see EGS on ROG Xbox Ally, where users can already install, for example, Steam and Ubisoft Connect. However, the launcher has not yet been adapted for portable consoles.
Currently, the priority task of EGS is to improve the PC version of the store and synchronize user libraries on computers and smartphones.
