HBO Max will launch in the United Kingdom and Ireland with access to Warner Bros. Discovery content
The streaming service HBO Max will become available to viewers in the United Kingdom and Ireland from March 26. These countries will join over 110 territories worldwide where the platform is already available. Despite some HBO series like Euphoria previously being broadcast through other services, viewers will now gain direct access to exclusive projects.
What is known
The HBO Max library for these regions will include The Pitt, One Battle After Another, Sinners, and an upcoming series based on Harry Potter.
HBO Max will offer several subscription plans. The basic plan with ads will cost £5 per month and will provide access to all titles except premieres that are initially released in cinemas. The standard plan with ads will cost £6 per month, include these movies, and allow downloading up to 30 titles. Both plans provide content viewing on two devices simultaneously.
For those who want to watch without ads, Standard and Premium plans are available. The former includes the same 30 downloads, viewing on two devices, and the full catalog. Premium allows streaming on four devices simultaneously in 4K Ultra HD with Dolby Atmos (if supported).
Interestingly, the launch is taking place amid news of the potential acquisition of Warner Bros. (owner of HBO) by Netflix. There is no official confirmation of the impact this might have on the launch yet.
