The Finnish company HMD has released a new rugged button phone, Terra M, in Europe, designed specifically for use in conditions where other devices may suffer significant damage, for example, for the military, rescuers, builders, adventurers, and anyone who requires a highly reliable device with modern communication capabilities.

What is known

The HMD Terra M will not offer the usual smartphone features but supports modern communication protocols and, thanks to IP68, IP69K certifications, and the military standard MIL‑STD‑810H, it is resistant to shocks, drops, pressurized water, and extreme temperatures.

The device is equipped with a 2.8” touchscreen that responds correctly to touches even in thick work gloves, as well as a loud speaker and programmable keys, including a Push-to-Talk button and an emergency call key.

The phone operates on the Qualcomm QCM2290 platform, has 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, supports 4G LTE, VoLTE, VoWi-Fi, dual SIM, and eSIM, and is equipped with an NFC module and an 8 MP camera. The 2510 mAh battery provides up to ten days of standby time, making the Terra M convenient for long shifts and field conditions. Terra M comes with support for reliable corporate applications focused on privacy, security, and operational efficiency

In Europe, the HMD Terra M is already on sale for about $200 and is offered in dark gray color.
