Every fourth active smartphone in the world is an iPhone, and Apple and Samsung account for almost half of the global mobile device market
With each passing year, the popularity of the iPhone only grows, and new statistics from Counterpoint Research confirm that Apple holds the largest share of the global smartphone market.
What is known
Analysts calculated that as of the beginning of 2026, every fourth active smartphone in the world is an iPhone. Apple's share accounts for almost 25% of the global smartphone market, a figure no manufacturer has achieved!
The second giant, quite predictably, is Samsung — with a 20% market share. Consequently, the American and Korean giants have divided almost half of the mobile device market between them.
According to Counterpoint Research, the top 10 also includes Xiaomi, Oppo, vivo, Transsion (Tecno, Infinix), Huawei, Honor, Motorola, realme, and Google — but for the last three brands, the number of active devices still has not exceeded 200 million units.
The stunning success of Apple, analysts explain, is due to “high user loyalty, a developed iOS ecosystem, and tightly integrated services,” while Samsung's main trump card is “a wide product range from budget to premium segments and extensive geographical coverage of key regions.”
