Anthropic announced an update to Claude's free plan. Now, users without a subscription can create files, connect external services via Connectors, use Skills, and have a few more new features without ads.

What's Known

Since September, the ability to create documents was only available to subscribers. Now, even users of the free version of Claude can create and edit Excel files, PowerPoint presentations, Word documents, and PDFs. This is managed by the Sonnet 4.5 model.

Connectors allows Claude to be connected to third-party services such as Canva, Slack, Notion, Zapier, and PayPal. Skills are tools for task automation. Claude can be taught to perform routine actions according to specified instructions and scenarios.

The update also includes longer dialogues, interactive responses, improved image search, and voice commands. This comes amid OpenAI's plans to launch ads for ChatGPT Go plan users in the USA.

Anthropic not only promised not to implement ads but also emphasized this in its Super Bowl commercial, hinting at OpenAI's greed. The company ends the release with the slogan "No Ads".
