Threads introduces a feature that allows changing recommendations by addressing the algorithm
The Threads social network by Meta has turned the humorous posts 'Dear algo' into a tool for controlling the feed. Users complained about irrelevant recommendations from the first days of launch, and eventually began publishing posts, asking the algorithm to show more cats or less content about sick animals.
What is known
Now, such appeals have become a function: it's enough to start a post with the phrase 'dear algo', and the Threads algorithm will temporarily adjust your recommendations. For example, writing 'dear algo, show me more art posts' can fetch you more art posts. Requests are valid for only three days to keep the filter flexible.
In the Threads settings, you can review or delete your appeals to the algorithm. You can also retweet other users' 'dear algo' posts to influence your own feed.
The feature is already available in the USA, UK, Australia, and New Zealand, and will later appear in other countries. Before launch, Meta conducted limited testing of this option at the end of last year.
