Gemini didn't help: Apple once again delayed the release of AI version of Siri due to training issues
Apple continues to face enormous difficulties in developing the AI version of the Siri voice assistant.
In January, Apple confirmed that Official: Apple uses Gemini to train the intelligent Siri model — the company has formed a strategic partnership with Google, and it was expected that this would help the company start deploying its long-delayed project by spring. However, even with Gemini, it turned out not to be so simple.
What is known
Authoritative insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman reported that smart Siri will not appear in the March release of iOS 26.4. Now Apple hopes to make it by the release of iOS 26.5 in May or even the major update of iOS 27, which will be released in the fall of 2026.
Moreover, in the early stages, Siri may have limited functionality, for example, it probably will not learn to work with personal data (such as searching for content in old messages) or manage different applications by receiving voice commands from the user.
AI-Siri was announced back in 2024, and the project turned out to be so problematic that it led to a lawsuit from shareholders and Bloomberg: more than forty AI specialists left Apple in a month — including Siri division head Stuart Bowers, including one of the heads of this direction at Apple, Stuart Bowers.
