Sony releases flagship TWS headphones WF‑1000XM6 with new processor, improved ANC, and updated design
Sony has introduced and immediately launched for sale the flagship TWS headphones WF‑1000XM6. The model received significant technical updates, enhanced features, and improved ergonomics.
What is known
This is already the sixth generation of headphones from Sony, which received a more significant update than the transition from XM4 to XM5:
- The new QN3e processor is three times faster than the previous one, providing more stable and deeper noise cancellation;
- eight adaptive microphones instead of six additionally improve the performance of ANC and call quality;
- an updated speaker, DAC, and amplifier enhance sound detail and clarity;
- optimized body shape and improved ventilation make extended wear more comfortable.
The WF‑1000XM6 headphones feature expanded functions:
- 360 Reality Audio with head-tracking;
- smarter Ambient Mode with three automatic profiles;
- full support for LE Audio and Auracast;
- a 10-band equalizer.
The WF‑1000XM6 supports bone conduction, allowing the ear canal to remain open to ambient noise, features beamforming (advanced sound positioning), wind protection, and improved AI processing. The headphones offer 8 hours of battery life, and with the charging case, this number increases to 24 hours. Sony's new product supports fast and wireless charging, as well as touch and voice controls and smart gestures.
The headphones are water and dust resistant with an IPX4 rating.
The Sony Sound Connect app is used for fine-tuning the headphones.
The headphones have become more elongated and capsule-shaped, and the charging case has lost its roundness, becoming bulkier with sharp outlines.
Sony's flagship TWS headphones are priced at €299.99/ $329.99, available in two colors — black and silver.
The package includes a wireless charging case, a USB-C cable, and 4 pairs of tips in different sizes (SS, S, M, L).
