Volvo is recalling 2758 S60L 2017 model year sedans in the US market after detecting a defect that could lead to one or more doors opening while driving.

What is known

According to documents filed with the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the issue is related to faulty door lock components. Under certain conditions, the lock may not hold in the closed position, and the door may open.

An unlatched door poses an obvious safety threat. Passengers may be injured, especially on highways or during sudden maneuvers. Correcting the defect involves checking and replacing door lock components free of charge for owners.

This is not the first time Volvo has addressed door lock issues. In 2019, the automaker announced the recall of several models. It was discovered that negative temperatures could cause a malfunction in door locks, potentially preventing the doors from closing properly. The service campaign affected a much wider range of vehicles.
