For several years, insiders have reported that remasters of the original God of War trilogy and a spin-off series in the metroidvania genre are in development, and finally, Sony not only confirmed this information but also additionally excited fans.

What is known

Indeed, the first three parts of God of War will receive modern re-releases, but these will not be remasters of old games, but a full-fledged remake that combines the events of the trilogy into a single game, created according to the most modern standards.

The project is being developed by the creators of the franchise from Santa Monica Studio, and Terrence “T.C.” Carson will once again return to the role of Kratos, who voiced him before the God of War moved to the lands of Scandinavia.

Unfortunately, that's all that is known about God of War Trilogy Remake — the release dates are not specified, but since the game is still in the early stages of production, there is a high chance it will be released on PlayStation 6.

Another important news for fans of God of War was the announcement and instant release of the metroidvania God of War Sons of Sparta. This is a 2D game in retro style, the events of which unfold during the young years of Kratos, when he was still a child and, along with his brother Deimos, was already participating in Spartan trials and battles.

The gameplay formula of the novelty is familiar: the player explores intricate locations, collects valuable items to enhance the character, gains new abilities and, thanks to them, can access previously inaccessible locations.

God of War Sons of Sparta is currently only available on PlayStation 5.
