BMW acquired the rights to the Alpina brand in 2022, but the previous agreement between the companies was in effect until December 31, 2025. Now that control has fully transitioned to BMW, the company has begun updating the brand's corporate identity.

What's known

The updated emblem has retained historical elements — the throttle valve and crankshaft — but has become flatter and more minimalist. The shield and the red and blue segments have been removed from the design. The chrome finish of the rings and the Alpina lettering have also been removed. The font itself has slightly changed, although the differences are not immediately noticeable.

BMW is also revising other key elements of the brand's style. The signature 20-spoke Alpina wheels will receive an update — diamond finishing and two-tone execution. This is a nod to the original design of the early 1970s.

The interiors of the new BMW Alpina cars will exclusively feature "top quality leather" as standard equipment. Details remain undisclosed, but a wide selection of upholstery colors, similar to Alpina models of the past, is expected.

The first car of the new BMW Alpina era is likely to debut by the end of the year. It will not be a separate model but a more luxurious version of the updated BMW 7 Series. According to rumors, the sedan will greatly differ from the pre-reform version and will receive a new index G72 instead of G70.
