BYD officially unveiled the interior of the compact electric car Racco for the Japanese market. The model will go on sale in the summer or fall of 2026 at a price of about 2.5 million yen (16,340 dollars) in the popular kei car segment.

What is known

The interior has a configuration typical of kei cars: the gear selector is installed on a short central console, and the front seats are positioned close to each other. A small armrest is provided.

The equipment includes:

  • “floating” central display and digital dashboard
  • physical climate control buttons
  • 12V socket, USB and USB Type-C
  • storage compartments on the central console and tunnel
  • three-spoke steering wheel with functional buttons
  • sun visors, electric windows, electric mirrors
  • heated front seats

The seats are upholstered in white eco-leather, and there is a holder for glasses on the driver’s side. The high windshield provides good visibility.

The second row is not shown in the official photos, but was previously shown publicly. There are two seats in the back with adjustable headrests. Another feature is the sliding rear doors on both sides.

Technical Specifications

The dimensions of the Racco are 3395×1475×1800 mm. An electric motor with a power of 20 kW (27 hp) is installed on the front axle. It is powered by an LFP battery manufactured by FinDreams. The range according to the WLTC cycle is 180 km. Fast DC charging with power up to 100 kW is supported.

Market Prospects

The Japanese kei car market remains the largest in the country: last year, 1,667,360 such cars were sold. The most popular model was the Honda N-Box. BYD hopes to capture part of this segment with an affordable city electric car.
