The French company Murena has introduced the Volla Tablet — a device for users who want maximum privacy and independence from the Google ecosystem.

What is Known

The tablet was created in collaboration with the German brand Volla and runs on the /e/OS operating system based on Android 14, completely devoid of Google services, and offers an alternative open-source mobile environment with built-in data protection tools and its own App Lounge store.

The tablet features a 12.6” IPS display, MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 12 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of internal storage with the option to expand via microSD.

The device is equipped with a 10000 mAh battery that provides long-lasting autonomy and supports LTE, allowing the tablet to be used without being tied to Wi-Fi. The body is made of durable plastic, and the included keyboard case transforms the tablet into a compact laptop.

The main feature of the Murena Volla Tablet is its software platform. /e/OS offers built-in services for mail, notes, cloud storage, and calendar, as well as a tracking control system that blocks apps from sending data to third-party companies. Users can choose between the classic Android interface and the Volla branded mode with simplified navigation and an added focus on privacy.

Despite modest technical specifications, the cost of the Murena Volla Tablet is $800, without a power adapter or charging cable included, but the manufacturer provides a two-year warranty and 1 GB in Murena cloud storage, which can be used for backups, syncing photos, notes, and other files.
