Google announced the dates for its annual developer conference, Google I O 2026. The event will take place on May 19th and 20th. The company will stream keynotes and some sessions for free online, including the opening keynote presentation where major updates are usually announced.

What is known

Despite being a developer event, I O is usually where major changes in Android and new Google services features are first revealed. It is expected that a significant portion of the program will be dedicated to artificial intelligence, particularly the further development of Gemini and its integration into the company's products.

The conference dates were announced in the usual format after users solved an interactive puzzle on the I O website. This year it consists of several minigames created using Gemini.

Among them are mini-golf, a Picross-style nonogram puzzle game with endless grids, Word Wheel, Super Sonicbot controlled via microphone, and Stretchy Cat. Google notes that Gemini 3 is responsible for generating levels, game mechanics, and difficulty balance.
