WordPress.com, owned by Automattic, is expanding its artificial intelligence integration on the platform. The company has transformed its one-time site builder into a full-fledged permanent assistant that helps edit and create media files.

What is known

The new AI-based assistant works in the site editor and can influence the structure and design of pages. Users can change fonts, color palettes, or overall style based on a text request. The tool also assists with texts — for example, rewriting material in a more confident or formal tone.

The feature is separately integrated into the media library. The assistant generates images from scratch or edits existing ones — changing the style, colors, or individual elements in a photo based on a prompt. WordPress notes that the system takes into account the visual style and brand of the site to ensure the created content matches the overall identity.

Additionally, AI has appeared in the internal team chat Block Notes — it can be called directly in discussions. The tool is available for Business and Commerce plan users and is automatically activated for sites created using the AI site builder. The assistant can be activated in the settings in the AI Tools section.
