Bloomberg on Apple's AI Devices: Smart Glasses, Talking Pin, and AirPods with Cameras and Contextual Hints
Wearable AI devices are at an early stage of evolution and have not yet entered everyday human life, but many companies are actively working on their development, seeing their potential demand, and Apple does not intend to give its competitors an advantage.
According to a reputable insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the American giant is preparing several new devices where artificial intelligence will play a key role. According to his sources, Apple has accelerated work on three products: smart glasses, an AI pendant/badge/Pin, and updated AirPods with enhanced capabilities.
What Apple is Preparing
Smart Glasses
This will be the most technologically advanced device in the new lineup. The glasses will be equipped with two cameras: one will handle high-quality photo and video shooting, and the other will support computer vision functions similar to those used in the Vision Pro headset. It is assumed that the glasses will be a competitor to Meta Glasses, while Apple fundamentally does not collaborate with other manufacturers, as Meta did when developing its glasses.
Early prototypes required a wired connection to an iPhone or a power bank, but now the battery is built into the frame made of premium materials.
Wearable Pendant with Cameras
A compact gadget that can be worn as a pendant or brooch. It will have built-in microphones, speakers, and cameras, allowing for quick photo and video shoots, as well as interaction with Siri, which will understand the user's surroundings and provide contextual information.
New AI AirPods
The headphones will feature improved artificial intelligence functions, including deeper integration with the iPhone and an updated Siri. The assistant will be able to understand the visual context thanks to cameras on other devices in the ecosystem.
All three devices will be closely linked to the iPhone and utilize the updated Siri, capable of analyzing the surrounding environment. This will allow users to interact with the digital world more naturally — through gestures, voice, and visual cues.
Apple's plans sound beautiful and ambitious, but much relies on smart Siri, which is currently not very smart, and according to recent data, the release of the AI version of the assistant Gemini didn't help: Apple once again delayed the release of AI version of Siri due to training issues.
The glasses and headphones may be released this or next year, while the pendant/badge is in the early stages of development and may be canceled.
