YouTube has started testing the 'Ask' button with Gemini support. The feature appears as part of an experiment for a small group of smart TV, gaming console, and media box users. This became known from the updated Google support page.

What is known

'Ask' is a Gemini-based tool trained on the content of a specific video. After pressing the button, the user receives ready-made prompts with questions on the topic of the video or can ask their own question. Interaction occurs through the on-screen interface, as well as using a microphone.

Google specifies that the feature can be activated with the microphone button on the remote control—if the device supports it. Examples of questions include: "what ingredients are used in this recipe?" or "what is the story behind the lyrics of this song?".

Currently, 'Ask' is only available to a limited number of users. The company stated that they will inform about further expansion of the feature after testing is completed.
