Official: Ubisoft will soon release two new Far Cry games
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot gave his first major interview to Variety after the Big Changes at Ubisoft: The Company Cancels Six Games, Delays Seven, Closes Two Studios, and Opens Five 'Creative Houses', in which he spoke about the company's plans for the coming years, confirming insider information with his statements.
What is known
In the conversation, Yves Guillemot mentioned two key Ubisoft franchises — Assassin's Creed and Far Cry. He is confident that bringing their developers together in the "creative house" Vantage Studios will positively impact the development of the brands, as it allows the creators to focus specifically on these series without being distracted by other projects.
The company founder noted that several Assassin's Creed games are currently in development, both story-driven single-player and service-based projects focused on multiplayer and co-op.
The head of Ubisoft officially confirmed, thereby validating insider information, that two new Far Cry series games will be released soon. He did not disclose details, calling them "promising", but unofficial sources say that one of the games is a full-fledged seventh part, and the other is either a competitive shooter or an Extraction shooter. Previously, we recall, Guillemot stated that more online elements need to be added to the series, evidently to encourage players to make microtransactions.
In the interview, Yves Guillemot admitted that in the next five years, Ubisoft will focus on developing its key franchises and will continue to emphasize making its games accessible to the broadest possible audience, paying particular attention to enabling people with physical limitations to interact seamlessly with virtual worlds.
