Samsung is expanding the capabilities of Galaxy AI in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series. The Perplexity AI agent will be added to the system. The company announced this a few days before the Galaxy Unpacked presentation, so the details of the integration are promised to be revealed soon.

What is known

Perplexity will become part of the concept of supporting multiple AI-based solutions in Galaxy AI. The new tool will be able to interact with Samsung's proprietary apps, including Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar. Support for certain third-party applications is also announced, but their list is not yet specified.

Activation will occur via the voice command "Hey Plex" (not to be confused with the streaming service Plex), as well as through quick access using physical controls on the device. Samsung notes that Galaxy AI will serve as the central control system that coordinates the operation of various AI models.

According to Choi Won-Joon, President and COO of the Mobile eXperience division, the company aims to give users more flexibility and choice in performing daily tasks.

The partnership with Perplexity is not new. Last year, Samsung announced the integration of AI-based search into its TVs. Meanwhile, Perplexity has previously been at the center of scandals due to allegations of unauthorized content use and copyright infringement. In September, Merriam-Webster and Encyclopedia Britannica filed lawsuits against the company.
