The Assassin's Creed franchise includes fifteen main series entries, most of which take place in completely different eras and parts of the world, and their plots are often unrelated, except for the most global events and concepts.

The franchise covers over 2000 years of history, and it's easy to get confused in the depths of the ages, so the video from Ubisoft will be incredibly valuable for new players just beginning their acquaintance with Assassin's Creed.

What is known

Although it's better to play the games in the order they were released to better appreciate their development and context, some players may be more interested in observing the events in chronological order, starting from Ancient Greece in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, ending with industrial London in the 19th century in Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
