Samsung has introduced the Galaxy S26 Ultra with enhanced low light shooting capabilities. Although there are no significant hardware changes in the cameras compared to its predecessor, the company has combined improved hardware and processing algorithms to enhance photo and video quality at night.

What is known

The Nightography technology, promoted by Samsung since 2022, has reached a new stage of development. In the Galaxy S26 Ultra, the main camera of 200 MP has an aperture of f/1.4 instead of f/1.7 in the previous model. This allows the sensor to capture approximately 47% more light. The 50 MP telephoto module also received a wider aperture—f/2.9 compared to f/3.4 in the previous model, allowing the lens to let in approximately 37% more light.

As a result, the shots in the dark become brighter, with less noise and better detail. An additional role is played by the updated image processing processor with AI support in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. It analyzes the scene element by element—processing faces, backgrounds, and other objects separately, optimizing colors, textures, and dynamic range.
